I recently had a special event dinner prepared by Chef Michelle Donaldson at Tallgrass Prairie Table. We wanted the dinner to have a local or southern flare and Chef Donaldson did not disappoint by preparing a special “Southern inspired” five-course tasting menu for our group.
Course Line-Up:
•Course 1: Tomato and Cheddar Pie – Paired with Proseco and Aperol
•Course 2: Chicken Fried Chicken Livers with Goat’s Milk Biscuits and Sriracha Honey – Paired with Villa Wolf Pinot Gris
•Course 3: Duck Confit Jambalaya with Pickled Tomatoes and Grilled Okra – Paired with Altocedro Malbec
•Course 4: Pulled Pork with Fried Yellow Corn Grit Cakes, Arugula, Hazelnuts, Bacon Lardon and Carolina Style BBQ Sauce – Paired with Triumph Zinfandel
•Course 5: Blackberry and Lemon Bread Pudding with Vanilla Anglaise
Needless to say, this was the largest meal I’ve had in a long time as the five portions were on the large side (not complaining), and our entire party was stuffed afterwards as we devoured the absolutely delicious five-course line-up. Everyone raved about the entire meal and night as the Chef and staff provided a very memorable evening for our entire group. I’m not even a fan of bread pudding and I tried it and liked the flavors despite my dislike of the dish in general.
This was one of the best meals I’ve had in a while and Chef Donaldson and the entire staff made this night truly remarkable! Although we were having a special occasion for our group, you don’t have to hold a special tasting dinner to get some really great food and service. Plus the restaurant’s décor is rustic yet upscale and very appropriate for the name and style of the restaurant. This is truly one of the best restaurants in Tulsa!
